Organization of documentation of Catalan exile: the archive of the Casal Catal\u00e0 de Costa Rica <\/h2>\n

[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Descripci\u00f3n” _builder_version=”4.8.1″ text_font=”Darker Grotesque|600|||||||” text_font_size=”22px” text_line_height=”1.4em”]The Casal Catal\u00e0 de Costa Rica is a relatively modern entity founded in 1982, but previously there had been other entities that had the purpose of grouping the Catalan community present in the country and promoting the dissemination of Catalan culture. The original entity was born on January 15, 1914 under the name of Centre Catal\u00e0, but four and a half years later it was dissolved due to serious economic problems and became part of the Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Beneficencia, Casa de Espa\u00f1a. Already in 1980, due to the celebration of a Meeting of Catalan Centers and Casals of America in Barcelona, \u200b\u200ba provisional Agrupaci\u00f3 dels Catalans de Costa Rica was formed from Costa Rica, which would be the immediate predecessor of the current Casal Catal\u00e0. <\/p>\n

In 2013, Arxivers sense Fronteres began a project to survey the preserved documentation of the Casal Catal\u00e0, both at the current headquarters of the entity and at its former headquarters, the Casa de Espa\u00f1a. The preserved documentation begins in 1955, with two books from the Jocs Florals in Costa Rica and has a volume of 10 linear meters on paper. A Classification Table was also prepared.
