[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Descripci\u00f3n” _builder_version=”4.8.1″ text_font=”Darker Grotesque|600|||||||” text_font_size=”22px” text_line_height=”1.4em”]In 2010, based on an agreement between the Area of \u200b\u200bCatalan Communities Abroad, attached to the Department of the Vice-Presidency of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and AsF, the project to organize the archive of the Orfe\u00f3 Catal\u00e0 de M\u00e9xic began. One of the issues that made this collaboration necessary was to safeguard the documentary heritage that includes, among other things, the memory of the Catalan exile of 1939. The complexities of a project of this nature, marked by the distance and the special casuistries of a historical entity such as the Orfe\u00f3 Catal\u00e0 de M\u00e9xic, require exhaustive planning and a willingness to collaborate between the parties involved. <\/p>\n
For an experience of this type to prosper, many aspects have been taken into account: the resources available, both financial and human, good coordination of the project’s vocal team from AsF (in 2010 it fell to Salvador Cabr\u00e9, and from 2011 to Andreu Gurrera), the involvement of those responsible for the Orfe\u00f3, the support of colleagues in the country, in this case from AsF Mexico, the capacity of the volunteers who move to Mexico to coordinate the project in the initial phase, the training and involvement of the people who carry out daily tasks at the OCM (digitizing documentation, describing documentation, etc.), and many other issues.<\/p>\n
In a first phase, 1248 documentary units have been described with the NODAC and 1083 documents have been digitized. The oldest document that has been described dates from 1892, specifically a score, but the documentation described to date can be dated between 1907 and 1988. The collection includes a large amount of administrative documentation from the Orfe\u00f3, but also the correspondence of Catalan exiles in Mexican lands. After years of work in the treatment of the Orfe\u00f3’s documentation and the overall conditioning of the entity’s archive, the first results were presented in 2012, which are specified in the delivery of more than 20,000 images of digitized documents.
