Archivists without Borders visits the National Archive of Catalonia, beginning a new stage of collaboration between the two institutions.
Last Thursday, April 25, representatives of Archivists Without Borders (AsF), including AsF project spokesperson Yolanda Corredera Anera, vice president Adrià Cruz Espinosa, and its president Núria Carreras Font, visited the National Archive of Catalonia, which is beginning a new stage with Pilar Cuerva Castillo at the helm.
During the visit to the ANC, impressions were exchanged on the status of the different projects that Arxivers sense Fronteres is currently carrying out, highlighting in particular the work done in the Catalan centers in Central and South America. The various lines of action, the review of the documentary collections already received and the work of the organization, and the potential avenues of collaboration between Arxivers sense Fronteres and the National Archive of Catalonia were explored.
As a result of the collaboration between the National Archive of Catalonia and Archivists Without Borders, over the years, several collections have been added, among which the following stand out from the various Catalan archives:
- Orfeó Català de México : 1,250 units and 18,192 associated digital objects
- Casal Català de Montevideo : 455 units and 4,127 associated digital objects
- Sociedad de Beneficencia de Naturales de Catalunya : 331 units and 17,219 associated digital objects
These documentary collections have been extensively consulted between 2011 and 2024, with more than 10,000 consultations on the Online Archives portal, as a whole.
